Ariana Grande’s Grandmother, Nonna Marjorie, Passes Away at 99

American pop star Ariana Grande is mourning the death of her beloved grandmother, Marjorie ‘Nonna’ Grande, who peacefully passed away at the age of 99.

According to the Daily Mail, Ariana’s family shared the sad news in an emotional Instagram post:

We are devastated to share that the beloved matriarch of our family has passed away… surrounded by her family and loved ones for every moment of her last few weeks.”

Ariana had a close bond with her Nonna, who significantly influenced her early life and career. It was Nonna who inspired her to audition for the lead role in Annie as a child — a pivotal moment that launched Ariana’s career.

Even in her later years, Nonna was frequently seen with Ariana at award shows and public events. She was more than just a supportive grandmother — she also made history.

Over the years, Nonna appeared on several of Ariana’s tracks and even got matching tattoos with her to commemorate a career achievement.

In 2023, Nonna made history as the oldest person to feature on the Billboard Hot 100, thanks to her heartfelt voice cameo on the outro of Ariana’s song Ordinary Things.

On the track, she lovingly reminisced about her late husband, Frank, stating:

“When he’d come home… it was like God almighty arrived… like seeing daylight.”
