The University of Ilorin Independent Student Electoral Commission (UISEC) has officially released the timeline for the 2024/2025 Student Union elections, setting the stage for a week of intense political activities, debates, and campus-wide participation.

According to the electoral timetable, activities kicked off on Tuesday, June 10, with the lifting of the campaign ban at 12 p.m, followed by the commencement of form sales at 1 p.m. This marked the formal opening of the electoral season, giving aspirants the green light to begin their campaigns and purchase nomination forms.

The timeline progresses with the deadline for form submissions set for Friday, June 13 at 12 p.m, on the same day as the Faculty of Physical Sciences (P.S) manifesto presentation at 4 p.m.

Saturday, June 14, will see the Faculty of Clinical and Health Sciences (COHS) aspirants presenting their manifestos at 4 p.m, followed by a press night at 8 p.m, where candidates are expected to face questioning from students and the media.

A crucial part of the electoral process, the aspirants’ screening, is scheduled for Monday, June 16 at 9 a.m. This vetting process ensures that all candidates meet the eligibility criteria and are fit to run for office.

Tuesday, June 17, will witness the ban of all campaign activities by 7 a.m, in line with standard electoral guidelines. The highlight of the day will be the “7th Sense” Presidential Debate at 11 a.m, providing presidential hopefuls with a final platform to articulate their visions to the student body.

The electoral climax arrives on Wednesday, June 18, when students will head to the polls starting from 9 a.m to elect the new set of Student Union leaders who will pilot the affairs of the Union for the 2024/2025 academic session.

Students and stakeholders are encouraged to stay informed and direct all inquiries to the appropriate electoral officers:
