Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Queen Mercy Atang, has opened up about her recent decision to unfollow her husband, David Oyekanmi, on Instagram, as well as deleting their wedding photos — a move that had sparked widespread speculation about trouble in their marriage.

The couple, who tied the knot in March 2024, became a trending topic online after fans noticed Queen had removed all traces of their wedding from her page and unfollowed her husband, leading many to assume a marital crisis was brewing.

However, in a video shared on her page, Queen clarified her intentions, revealing that the decision was made to preserve the health of her marriage not because of any underlying issues.

According to her, she wanted to take her relationship off social media after noticing the amount of attention her husband was receiving, including direct messages from women sending both compliments and inappropriate remarks.

“I was trying to take my marriage off social media because my husband’s handle is out there, with a lot of ladies sliding in his DM to say both positive and negative things.

She emphasized that the move was purely protective. “I just want to protect my marriage and reduce some of the things I put out there,” she added.

Queen’s comments have since calmed concerns from fans who feared the couple was experiencing a fallout so soon after their wedding.
