The Osun State chapter of the Nigerian National Peoples Party, NNPP, has declared its readiness for the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state.

The party made this announcement following information from the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, that August 8, 2026, has been fixed for the gubernatorial election in Osun State.

The party also stated it was expecting the news, as it would definitely change the political atmosphere in the state.

In a statement by its state chairman, Dr. Tosin Odeyemi, on Saturday, NNPP said it cannot wait to sack the Ademola Adeleke-led Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, government.

He accused the PDP-led administration of thriving daily on propaganda in the governance of the state.

Odeyemi said, “Now that the coast is becoming clearer, our party will start the tour of every ward in Osun State to sensitise the citizens on the need to vote their conscience, not emotion.

"Our doors are open to everyone with good intentions of governing Osun; we will welcome such individuals with open arms and treat them equally with present members.

“We will also ensure collaboration with any people-oriented political party that is ready to salvage our dear state from this government of nepotism.

“As we’ve earlier affirmed, the Osun 2026 gubernatorial election will be a funny and surprising game, one which we have never experienced in the state before.”
