Opeyemi Famakin, who bragged about how no man in Lagos could come close to his scent, however, said only those in Abuja and Kano could stand a chance of competing with him.

The food critic claimed his perfumes were worth millions of naira.

Sharing a video of his perfumes, Famakin wrote in the caption:

“Consumerism: Part 3 (No Man In Lagos Smells Better Than Me) I dare you to post your scent collection. Tag me, Lets have fun.”

Famakin’s video followed a similar one by skit maker Mr. Macaroni, who also displayed his collection of perfumes. This prompted a reaction from writer Solomon Buchi.

Buchi expressed concern over how such displays may set unhealthy standards, especially for younger Nigerians who might start comparing their lives to exaggerated social media portrayals.

He also highlighted the importance of prioritising needs over wants and stated that refusing to buy luxury items doesn’t mean someone is broke.

In his post showing his perfume collection, Mr. Macaroni wrote,

“Some of the ones I touched are really good, I didn’t touch some cos I can’t reveal all my secrets.”
