“Nobody Owes You Anything”- Damilola Adegbite Shares Deep Life Lesson As She Turns 40
Nollywood actress Damilola Adegbite has recently delivered a heartfelt message to her followers on Instagram following her 40th birthday.
In a video recorded after attending an event, she opened up about an important lesson she’s learned over time—one that she believes can help people avoid heartbreak, disappointment, and unmet expectations.
She explained that during a phone conversation with a friend, she came to appreciate the power of this message, prompting her to speak directly to anyone who might need to hear it.
According to Damilola, one of the most freeing realizations in life is understanding that nobody owes you anything.
“Sometimes the people you showed up for will not show up for you. Sometimes your hard efforts will go unnoticed. That apology you are waiting for may never come,” she said.
She went on to emphasize that many people expect good things simply because they do the right thing, but life doesn’t always work that way.
Damilola highlighted that when people give love and care, it’s because they choose to, not because they are obligated to.
“Somebody shows you love, care, attention… it’s not your entitlement. They choose to care. They don’t have to,” she added.
She encouraged her followers not to get upset when others fail to meet their expectations but to instead observe, adjust, and keep moving forward.
Damilola closed her message with a powerful reminder about the importance of safeguarding one’s peace:
“Your peace is your power. Don’t give it away just because someone couldn’t meet you where you are.”
The video has sparked conversations online, with many people expressing their agreement and gratitude for the reminder.
