“I Was Too Ashamed To Speak”- Tonto Dikeh Opens Up On Birthday Scam

Nollywood actress and philanthropist Tonto Dikeh has shared a distressing experience involving an online scam that occurred during her recent birthday celebration.

Taking to Instagram, the actress — who recently reunited with her long-lost sister — revealed that she had planned a giveaway to mark her 40th birthday and decided to purchase 12 mobile phones for the event. Unfortunately, after making payment, the vendor disappeared and blocked all communication with her.

This wasn’t the first time Dikeh had faced such fraud. In a separate post, she recalled another incident where she ordered hair extensions online but received three sponges instead.

The mother of one admitted that she initially kept quiet due to the significant financial loss and embarrassment she felt. However, she chose to speak out now, tagging a few people she confided in and urging her followers to share their own experiences with online scams.

Despite the setback, the actress emphasized that she remains unfazed, stating that turning 40 has brought her clarity and resilience. Her honesty encouraged many fans to open up about similar fraudulent encounters, with several naming and tagging the individuals who deceived them.
