“Win or Lose, stay professional” — Lojay Reacts to Artists Dragging Award Shows
Nigerian music sensation Lojay has shared his perspective on the growing trend of artists criticizing award shows after not securing a win.
During an appearance on HipTV’s Trending, Lojay acknowledged that it’s natural to feel disappointed after losing, but emphasized that artists should maintain professionalism regardless of the outcome.
His comments follow the controversy surrounding the 17th Headies Awards, where several artists publicly voiced their dissatisfaction.
Even Shallipopi, who won an award, took to social media to air his grievances and declared he wouldn’t attend the event again.
Lojay, however, believes such reactions aren’t the best way to handle the situation.
“Everybody can get emotional about stuff for particular reasons, and that’s okay. I just feel like at the end of the day, you’re meant to be a professional artist, so don’t let your emotions take control.”
“I don’t think it makes sense to start trashing an award show just because you did not win.”
