“My Work In Entertainment Is Underappreciated”- Denrele Edun
Veteran media figure Denrele Edun has shared his frustrations about not receiving the recognition he believes he deserves, despite his long-standing contributions to the Nigerian entertainment industry.
During a conversation with Sunday Scoop, Denrele highlighted how he began his career in 1994 and played a key role in redefining the red carpet experience in Nigeria.
“Nobody was doing anything on the red carpet. I made it a thing. Now, people attend events mainly for the red carpet and not necessarily for the main event,” he stated.
He further emphasized the depth he brings to hosting, describing how his energy and presence add more than just interviews to an event.
“I am not just a presenter; I am a body language expert. I have worked with many brands to spice up the red carpet. When you meet me on the red carpet, you are not just meeting me; you are experiencing me,” he explained.
Reflecting on his legacy, Denrele referred to himself as a trendsetter. “I am a trailblazer, a pop culture enthusiast, and a generator of trends,” he said, expressing disappointment that his work often goes unnoticed.
“My body of work is one of the most underappreciated in the industry,” he added.
