Police repel bandit attack, destroy seven hideouts in Benue
Police operatives in Benue State successfully repelled a suspected bandit attack on Yelwata Settlement in the early hours of Sunday.
According to security sources, the attackers attempted to infiltrate the settlement around 12:22 a.m. but were met with swift resistance from Tactical Police Teams.
The operatives tracked the assailants to a stream known as Ushongo.
The bandits opened fire but were overpowered and fled across the river. During a follow-up operation, police combed the nearby forest and destroyed seven makeshift hideouts used by the criminals.
The area remains under close surveillance as search efforts for the fleeing suspects continue
