Three injured, several missing as bandits invade Karakkai village in Zamfara
Bandits launched an attack on Karakkai village in Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara State on Sunday at about 6:40 p.m.
Local residents reportedly mobilized in self-defense and engaged the assailants in a prolonged gunfight, ultimately forcing them to flee with suspected gunshot injuries.
Despite the resistance, three villagers were shot and injured, while several others are feared to have been abducted.
Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma were quickly deployed to the area, and medical treatment was provided to the injured.
Security operations have since been intensified in the region to locate and rescue the missing individuals.
