EPL final day: 4 matches we could see shock results
The 2024/2025 Premier League season finally comes to an end on Sunday.
A lot of things have been confirmed before these last set of matches. Liverpool are champions, while the trio of Leicester City, Ipswich Town and Southampton have been eliminated.
However, there will be a battle for three Champions League places at the top end of the table.
So, what games can we expect to see upsets?
1. Southampton vs Arsenal: There is really nothing at stake in this fixture that will be played at St. Marys. Southampton have been relegated, while Arsenal are all but guaranteed to finish in second position. However, the Saints could bid farewell to a miserable campaign in the topflight with a big result against the Gunners, who have looked disinterested in recent games.
2. Fulham vs Man City: Former champions Manchester City are still not guaranteed a Champions League spot yet. Pep Guardiola’s men beat Bournemouth 3-1 in their last home game to give themselves a chance. But a trip to Fulham on the last day of the season will be a tricky affair. The Cottagers have been hot and cold lately, but they could turn up one last time and spoil the party for City.
3. Man Utd vs Aston Villa: Most Manchester United supporters expected to have the Europa League trophy on parade when they host Aston Villa on Sunday. However, the Red Devils lost 1-0 to Tottenham in the final and must now look to finish higher than their current 16th position in what has been a dreadful season. If they manage that, they could ruin Villa’s chances of finishing in the top five.
4. Liverpool vs Crystal Palace: These two teams won the Premier League title and FA Cup respectively. This means that they will face off again in the Community Shield when the league resumes in August. Sunday is the day Arne Slot’s men will be handed the trophy and Palace wouldn’t want to just show up at Anfield to be part of the props.
