Ten Hag agrees deal to become Bayer Leverkusen’s new manager after Alonso’s exit

Former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has reached a two-year agreement in principle to become the new manager of Bayer Leverkusen.

This was disclosed by football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano in a tweet via his X account on Saturday.

According to Romano, the deal is valid for two years and will run until 2027.

This means that Ten Hag will replace Xabi Alonso, who is set to join Real Madrid from Leverkusen.

“The agreement in principle between Erik ten Hag and Bayer Leverkusen is valid for two years, as revealed yesterday,” Romano tweeted.

“Contract until June 2027, total priority from ETH to the Bayer04 project… now waiting to get it sealed on the club side.”

Leverkusen, meanwhile, finished in second place in the Bundesliga this season, behind champions Bayern Munich.

It remains to be seen whether they can win the Bundesliga title next season.
