Vision Quest Showrunner Explains Timeline Approach to Series’ Story

While Marvel Studios continues to keep details regarding its upcoming Disney+ series Vision Quest under wraps, confirmed showrunner Terry Matalas recently shed light on the series’ position in the current MCU timeline. In a recent discussion, he confirmed that the Paul Bettany-led show will closely follow the events of 2021’s WandaVision.

Terry Matalas on where Vision Quest series starts from in MCU timeline

The 12 Monkeys co-creator recapped White Vision’s arc before stating that it provides insight into the Vision Quest series’ timeline. Terry Matalas also noted that the show will focus on the synthesized superhero’s journey following his surprise escape from the Hex in WandaVision.

“The timeline is definitely navigated,” the veteran television producer said during his May 20 appearance on The Sackhoff Show. He then added, “At the end of WandaVision, the original Vision was rebuilt and weaponized, and then had a moment of discovery and acceptance of who he was. Then [he] flew off. [Vision Quest] is following that character, and that character’s journey.”

Matalas’ statements regarding the timeline of Vision Quest are the first information fans have received regarding the plot of the upcoming series. However, things have been different on the show’s casting front. Marvel confirmed the involvement of James Spader’s Ultron and Faran Tahir’s Raza. The latter served as the leader of the Ten Rings in 2008’s Iron Man. Despite being presumed dead towards the end of their respective MCU outings, the two characters are now making a return in the Vision series.

In his interview, Terry Matalas also expressed gratitude for receiving an opportunity to lead a unique project. Additionally, he highlighted his experience during production. “It became this very collaborative experience that’s just been really wonderful. And it doesn’t have to be with the biggest, most successful studios of all time. It’s been a really wonderful creative experience, and I think we are making something really special,” the veteran TV writer remarked.

As of writing, Marvel Studios hasn’t shared any updates regarding the official release schedule of the Vision Quest series.
