EPL: Nottingham Forest boss provides positive injury update on Awoniyi
Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo has delivered a heartening message on forward Taiwo Awoniyi.
Awoniyi sustained an abdominal injury in Forest’s 2-2 home draw against Leicester City after crashing into a goal post.
The forward underwent surgery afterwards and has been ruled out for the rest of the season.
Ahead of his side’s crucial home clash against Chelsea on Sunday, Nuno confirmed that the Nigerian is in good shape.
“He (Awoniyi) is much better. He is already able to walk. The doctors informed us that he had already started his normal life with his foot. So he is much better,” said the Portuguese manager.
The 27-year-old has endured an injury ravaged season at Forest, with Chris Wood also pulling him down the pecking order.
