Superman: David Corenswet Brings Comics to Life With Photo in New Suit

David Corenswet‘s Superman appears in a comic-accurate suit in a new photo from the upcoming James Gunn-directed feature. Superman is one of the most highly anticipated movies of the year. It will be the first cinematic entry in the DC Universe and will also mark Corenswet’s debut as the Man of Steel.

New photo offers best look at David Corenswet’s Superman suit

David Corenswet is shown wearing the classic Superman suit from the comics in a new photo. The character seems to be standing inside the Fortress of Solitude, with one of his hands forming a fist and his eyes looking ahead. It’s unclear whether the image is a still from the movie or part of a separate photo shoot.

The DCU co-head, James Gunn, wrote and directed the movie based on DC Comics characters. Production began in February 2024 and lasted for several months before concluding in July that year.

Besides Corenswet, the cast of Superman includes Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner / Green Lantern, Edi Gathegi as Michael Holt / Mister Terrific, Anthony Carrigan as Rex Mason / Metamorpho, María Gabriela de Faría as Angela Spica / The Engineer, and Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl.

Back in 2019, Corenswet told Entertainment Weekly that his “pie-in-the-sky ambition” was to play a ” very bright and optimistic” rendition of Superman. In a recent interview with The Associated Press, the actor clarified that comment.

“I said it was my pie in the sky ambition, which I meant to mean that there was no (expletive) way it was ever going to happen,” he explained. “I sort of was thinking of it as, ‘Oh, who wouldn’t love to get to play an iconic role like that? Wouldn’t it be amazing and impossible if we lived in a universe where that could even be considered?'”

Superman premieres in US theaters on July 11, 2025.
