Avengers: Doomsday’s AI Set Photos Tricked James Marsden’s Cyclops Fans

As Avengers: Doomsday gradually approaches its theatrical release date, several rumors, including some AI-generated set photos, have started to make waves on the internet. The latest speculation to catch fans’ attention involves James Marsden’s Cyclops having a chat with some crew members while sporting a comic-book accurate costume. Nevertheless, due to their unclear visuals, the images have drawn scrutiny from netizens, with many pointing out the irregularities of the supposed “leaks.”

Avengers: Doomsday’s ‘set photos’ with Cyclops confirmed to be fake

On May 17, popular media outlet Culture Base took to social media to share what appears to be a set photo from Avengers: Doomsday.

The said photo shared on X (formerly Twitter) features James Marsden’s Cyclops as well as the costume he will seemingly don in the film. Since then, multiple social media users, including renowned scooper @MyTimeToShineHello, have come out to claim that the shared updates are actually fake.

MTTSH labeled the photos as “not real” before throwing a jibe at Cyclops’ proposed costume in Avengers 5. “This isn’t real and it looks like pajamas,” they wrote, while responding to Culture Base’s claims in their latest X post.

Additionally, some fans even highlighted how this was the same suit that confused everyone prior to the release of 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine. Reacting to MTTSH’s post regarding the ‘fake’ Avengers: Doomsday set photos, one X user noted, “Didn’t this same “set shot” “leak” before Deadpool and Wolverine?”

With Marvel choosing to maintain complete radio silence regarding the plot and character designs of Avengers 5, such theories have only increased in number of late. Last month, another set of fake photos from the Avengers: Doomsday filming locations made their way on the internet, once again highlighting James Marsden’s Cyclops, alongside Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom. However, eagle-eyed fans and online journalists were quick to debunk these rumors, nipping the sham in the bud.

So far, Marvel Studios has not shared any official look at a single character that will be making an appearance in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, which is set to hit theatres on May 1, 2026.
