The Batman Part 2 has received an exciting script update.

The Batman was released in United States theaters in March 2024. Directed by Matt Reeves, the DC Studios movie stars Robert Pattinson as the titular Dark Knight, while Zoë Kravitz stars as Selina Kyle/Catwoman and Paul Dano as Edward Nashton/The Riddler.

The wait for The Batman Part II has been a long one, as it was announced all the way back at CinemaCon in April 2022 that a sequel was in the works. The movie was originally scheduled to be released in 2026, but it has since been pushed back a year in 2023 due to the Hollywood strikes.

According to a recent report for TheWrap, Reeves is nearly finished writing the script for The Batman Part 2.

“According to an insider with knowledge of the project, Reeves ‘has been sending pages for more than half a year’ and the first full draft of the script is expected to be delivered by Memorial Day,” the article notes.

It was previously reported that The Batman Part 2 was looking to begin filming near the end of 2025 or early 2026. While there have been some doubts as to whether or not this was actually going to happen, given that nobody was entirely sure how far along the script was, that’d give Warner Bros. plenty of time to polish the script and get the project where it needs to be in order to meet that production window start date.

Plot details for The Batman Part 2 remain under wraps at this time. The Batman Part II is currently scheduled to be released in United States theaters on October 1, 2027.
