Celine Song reveals personal connection to movie in Materialists video
The video highlights Song’s vision for the movie, revealing her interesting personal connection to Johnson’s character. The Oscar-nominated filmmaker confirmed that she was actually working as a matchmaker back in 2016, where she got to hear how different people talk about love. The featurette also shows the cast talking about the theme of the story, while also praising Song’s work.
“A woman’s expertise in matchmaking is highly sought after by those willing to pay a premium for her services. However, complications arise, leading to a toxic love triangle that threatens to unravel the lives of all involved,” reads the synopsis.
The upcoming movie is produced by Song, David Hinojosa for 2 AM, and Christine Vachon and Pamela Koffler for Killer Films. Additional cast members include Marin Ireland, Sawyer Spielberg, Lindsey Broad, Louisa Jacobson, Dasha Nekrasova, Rachel Zeiger-Haag, and more.
At the moment, Johnson is currently attached to star in two more upcoming movies, including the comedy Splitsville with Adria Arjona and the romance mystery drama Verity with Anne Hathaway. Meanwhile, Evans will next be seen in Ethan Coen’s crime comedy Honey Don’t, where he’ll be playing a reverend. As for Pascal, he’s set to make his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut this coming July with The Fantastic Four: First Steps. He’s currently in production for Avengers: Doomsday.
