Power Book 3: Raising Kanan Season 5 Renewed as Last 1, Cast Adds Spider-Verse Star
A new update confirms that Power Book III: Raising Kanan will officially end with its fifth season. Alongside the announcement, Starz introduced a major new cast member: Shameik Moore. He joins the prequel series as Breeze, a pivotal figure long teased in the Power universe.
Power Book III: Raising Kanan to end after Season 5
Power Book III: Raising Kanan will conclude with Season 5, Starz confirmed after the Season 4 finale aired. The series first premiered in 2021 as a prequel to the original Power series and follows the early years of Kanan Stark, portrayed by MeKai Curtis.
The fifth chapter was announced in March 2024, but it was only now revealed that it would be the show’s last. Showrunner Sascha Penn stated, “It was always my intention that Raising Kanan would run for five seasons,” and added that the story he set out to tell in 2019 has now reached its planned end. He also noted that Season 5 will feature an “exceptionally intense and action-packed” conclusion. (via Variety)
This announcement means almost all the previously announced Power spinoffs have either concluded or are now concluding. Power Book II: Ghost wrapped up in 2024, and Power Book IV: Force will end with its third and final season. Notably, Starz is currently developing a prequel series, Power: Origins, which will focus on Young Ghost and Tommy.
Shameik Moore joins Power Book III: Raising Kanan Season 5 cast
Shameik Moore has joined the cast of Power Book III: Raising Kanan for its fifth and final season. He debuted as Branford “Breeze” Frady in the Season 4 finale. Breeze is a longtime figure in Power lore. As a powerful drug lord from Jamaica, he previously worked with Kanan, Ghost, and Tommy.
Moore said, “The ‘Power’ Universe fans have been patiently anticipating this moment and I’m honored to step into the iconic role of Breeze.” He added, “It was a fun challenge to find Breeze’s unique identity, and I can’t wait for fans to see how Breeze will shift dynamics in the story.”
Notably, Breeze plays a significant role in the franchise. The original Power series revealed that Ghost killed Breeze 15–18 years before Season 1. This moment directly influenced Ghost’s future and fueled his rise in the criminal underworld.
