Universal Pictures has shared a brand The Bad Guys 2 trailer for the upcoming sequel to DreamWorks Animation’s 2022 heist comedy. The movie is slated to arrive in theaters on August 1, 2025.

“In the new action-packed chapter from DreamWorks Animation’s acclaimed comedy smash about a crackerjack crew of animal outlaws, our now-reformed Bad Guys are trying (very, very hard) to be good, but instead find themselves hijacked into a high-stakes, globe-trotting heist, masterminded by a new team of criminals they never saw coming: The Bad Girls,” reads the official synopsis.

What happens in The Bad Guys 2 trailer?

The video features titular reformed outlaws, as they try to have a fresh start by applying for new jobs. However, this proves to be difficult due to their infamous reputation as thieves. Now, in order to gain the trust of the public, they will try to sabotage the plans of an all-female trio of criminals called The Bad Girls.

The Bad Guys 2 is directed by Pierre Perifel and JP Sans, based on the New York Times best-selling book series by Aaron Blabey. The sequel features the voices of returning cast members Sam Rockwell as Mr. Wolf, Marc Maron as safe-cracker Mr. Snake, Craig Robinson as master-of disguise Mr. Shark, Anthony Ramos as Mr. Piranha, and Awkwafina as hacker Ms. Tarantula, aka Webs. They will be joined by Danielle Brooks, Natasha Lyonne, Maria Bakalova, Zazie Beetz, Richard Ayoade, Lilly Singh, and Alex Borstein. It is produced by Damon Ross, with Daniel Pemberton returning as the composer.
