SLU gets NUC full accreditation to run 12 new programmes
The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted full accreditation status to twelve undergraduate Programmes of Sule Lamido University Kafin Hausa (SLUK). This was in line with Section 10 (1) of the Education Act CAP E3, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004 which empowers the NUC to lay down Minimum Academic Standards for all academic programmes taught in Nigerian Universities and also to accredit such programmes.
The approval which was conveyed to the University vide a letter referenced NUC/ES/412/VOL.14/387 and dated 30th April, 2025, signed by the Acting Director of Accreditation, Engineer Abraham Chundusu, entails that B.Sc. Accounting, B.Sc. Business Management, B.Sc. Economics, B.Sc. Geography and B.Sc. Sociology taught in the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences have gained the five year full NUC accreditation status.
In the Faculty of Education, B.A. (Ed) Arabic, B.A. (Ed) Hausa, B.A. (Ed) Islamic Studies, B.Sc. (Ed) Computer Sciences and B.A. (Ed)/ B.Sc. (Ed) Library and Information Sciences also gained the NUC’s full accreditation status.
In the Faculty of Humanities where B.A. English programme was among the programmes visited in the accreditation exercise eventually scored another full accreditation status.
Also, the Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences records the full accreditation status of B.Sc. Biology programme offered in the Faculty.
Describing the success recorded by the University in achieving this victory, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Muhammad Ibrahim Yakasai, fcasson, mnae, disclosed that this was a clear indication that the University is working hard to achieve its mission and vision through ensuring quality education for academic excellence.
It could be recalled that the accreditation process was conducted by the NUC in the University between October and November 2024.
