EPL: There was tension between me and Mane at Liverpool – Salah opens up
Liverpool winger, Mohamed Salah, has admitted there was “tension” between him and Sadio Mane when they played together at the Premier League club.
Salah revealed this in an interview with France Football.
The Egyptian was frequently accused of not passing to Mane most times.
The perceived rivalry between the two players also played out at international level, as Mane’s Senegal beat Salah’s Egypt to win the Africa Cup of Nations.
“Yes, there was tension with Sadio,” Salah said.
“Mind you, we were professional until the end; I don’t think it affected the team.
“It’s human to want more, I understand that; he’s a competitor. Off the pitch, we weren’t very close, but we always respected each other.”
Salah however insisted he didn’t care about suggestions he had been “selfish” while playing alongside Mane.
“People can think what they want; it’s their right. But I invite everyone to note that the person who provided Mané with the most assists is me,” he added.
