The Hunt for Gollum, Evil Dead, & Remain Get Release Dates
Warner Bros. has officially announced the theatrical release dates for three highly-anticipated movies, including the new Lord of the Rings movie, The Hunt for Gollum; a brand new Evil Dead movie; and M. Night Shyamalan’s romantic thriller Remain. The first two projects both hail from Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinema.
When are the release dates for The Hunt for Gollum, Evil Dead, and Remain?
Produced by Evil Dead franchise creator Sam Raimi, the next installment to the supernatural franchise has now been scheduled to arrive in theaters on July 24, 2026. The untitled project will be directed by Sébastien Vaniček, who co-wrote the script with Florent Bernard. The new movie will be led by César Award nominee Souheila Yacoub, who’s best known for her roles in Planet B, The Balconettes, Climax, and The Braves movies. Further details about the new Evil Dead movie’s plot and characters are still under wraps. Producers are Raimi and Rob Tapert, with Bruce Campbell, Romel Adam, Jose Canas, and Lee Cronin executive producing.
Warner Bros. will then release Shyamalan’s upcoming supernatural romantic thriller, Remain, in theaters on October 23, 2026. The movie is directed and written by Shyamalan, based on a story co-created by the filmmaker and Nicholas Sparks. The cast includes Jake Gyllenhaal, Phoebe Dynevor, and Ashley Walters. It is produced by Shymalan, Ashwin Rajan, Marc Bienstock, and Theresa Park.
Then in the fall of 2027, Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinema will be releasing the highly-anticipated next installment to the blockbuster fantasy franchise. The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum is set to debut in theaters on December 17, 2027. The project will be directed by Andy Serkis, who is expected to reprise the titular Lord of the Rings character. The movie is written by Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyens, Phoebe Gittins, and Arty Papageorgiou, with Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyens, and Zane Weiner producing.
