Deadpool Creator Reacts To Ryan Reynolds’ X-Men Movie, Shares Title Idea
Rob Liefeld, the writer and artist known for co-creating the Deadpool character with Fabian Nicieza, has reacted to the recent announcement about Ryan Reynolds’ X-Men movie project.
Last week, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Reynolds is exploring a Deadpool and X-Men movie set within the MCU. According to the report, Deadpool would be more of a “supporting player” in the film that would likely feature “three or four” other X-Men characters.
This movie, which is still in the early stages of development, is said to be separate from the MCU X-Men movie that is being written by Michael Lesslie.
There’s no word on who else could be featured in the Reynolds’ film at this time, as it’s still in “extremely early days and far from becoming a reality.”
What did Deadpool’s Rob Liefeld say about Ryan Reynolds’ X-Men movie?
On X, Liefeld shared The Hollywood Reporter’s article and wrote, “Just call it X-Force already, and make it happen, like when it was with Drew Goddard. Don’t leave out Josh Brolin. Or Zazie. Folks want CABLE & DOMINO back!
Goddard was initially tapped to write and direct an X-Force movie — which was supposed to focus on Deadpool, Cable, and Domino — back in 2017. The project, however, was shelved following the Disney-Fox merger, as Marvel opted to make 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine instead.
Brolin and Zazie Beetz still starred in 2018’s Deadpool 2 as Cable and Domino; however, neither of those characters returned for Deadpool & Wolverine.
No release date has been set for Reynolds’ X-Men movie project at this time. There has also not been a release date announced for the Marvel Studios X-Men movie written by Lesslie as of yet; however, more information regarding that project is expected to follow after 2026’s Avengers: Doomsday and 2027’s Avengers: Secret Wars, both of which are directed by the Russo Brothers.
