Josh Hutcherson Replaces Blockers Actor in New HBO Comedy Series

HBO’s upcoming comedy series is gaining attention after Josh Hutcherson joined the cast in a lead role. The untitled show, created by and starring Rachel Sennott, explores the messy dynamics of a reunited friend group navigating personal growth and shifting relationships.

Josh Hutcherson replaces Miles Robbins in Rachel Sennott’s HBO comedy series cast

Josh Hutcherson has officially joined the cast of Rachel Sennott’s upcoming HBO comedy series as a lead, Deadline reported. Miles Robbins originally played the role in the pilot, but after HBO picked up the series and changed the character during the development process, Hutcherson was brought in to replace him.

The comedy, which doesn’t have a title yet, focuses on “a codependent friend group reunites, navigating how the time apart, ambition, and new relationships have changed them,” as per its official logline. Hutcherson joins previously announced cast members Rachel Sennott, Odessa A’zion, Jordan Firstman, and True Whitaker. Further, Leighton Meester and Quenlin Blackwell are expected to make guest appearances

Sennott serves as creator, executive producer, and lead actor in the show. Other executive producers include Emma Barrie, Aida Rodgers, and Lorene Scafaria. HBO granted a pilot order in March 2024 and picked the show up to series in September 2024, following strong internal support and positive test screenings.

Josh Hutcherson gained widespread recognition for playing Peeta Mellark in The Hunger Games franchise. He also featured in Future Man, Across the River and Into the Trees, Bridge to Terabithia, and Journey to the Center of the Earth. His recent credits include Five Nights at Freddy’s, The Beekeeper, Long Gone Horses, and The Studio. He will return as Mike Schmidt in Five Nights at Freddy’s 2.

The series continues HBO’s collaboration with emerging comedic voices and follows Sennott’s rising profile after her work in Bottoms and other recent comedy projects.
