“Stop Begging, Start Working” – Yul Edochie to Aspiring Actors and Musicians

Nollywood actor and political figure Yul Edochie has shared a motivational message aimed at aspiring musicians and actors, urging them to take responsibility for their own success rather than relying on handouts or waiting for connections.

In a post on social media, Edochie advised musicians to stop pleading for sponsorship and instead perform at bars and lounges for free, where their talent could capture attention. He emphasized that exposure often starts at grassroots levels.

Similarly, he encouraged upcoming actors not to wait idly for industry connections. Instead, he advised them to seek out active film locations and embed themselves in the scene to create opportunities.

Edochie wrote:
“Good things come to those who work for it.
So don’t sit idle; get up and work.
If you want to be an actor, don’t sit around begging for connections. Ask where films are made, go there, and connect yourself.
If you want to be a musician, don’t sit around begging for sponsorship. Go to bars and lounges and beg them to let you sing for free. There, your talent will be noticed.
Move.
Your destiny is in your hands”.

His comments have sparked conversations online, with many praising his direct and empowering approach to self-development in the entertainment industry.
