Bandits kill herder, steal 40 cows in Taraba village attack

A 30-year-old herder, Muazu Anaruwa, has been killed and 40 cows stolen by suspected bandits in Kogon Dutse village, located in the Old Muri district of Taraba State.

According to reports gathered by Zagazola Makama, the incident occurred on April 22 and was brought to light after Muazu failed to return home from grazing.

His father, Alhaji Audu Anaruwa, reported him missing.

Police later discovered Muazu’s body in the grazing field with signs of a gunshot wound, while all their livestock had vanished.

Locals have described the incident as a clear case of cattle rustling and banditry.

The victim’s body was taken to the Primary Healthcare Centre in Andami, where his death was confirmed by medical personnel.

He has since been buried in accordance with Islamic traditions.

Authorities say a manhunt involving police, local hunters, and vigilante groups is underway to apprehend the attackers and recover the stolen cattle.
