Police arrest 148 suspected criminals in Adamawa for various offenses

No fewer than 148 have been arrested by the police for alleged stolen vehicles and illegal possession of AK-47s in Adamawa.

Some were also arrested for their alleged involvement in crimes such as kidnapping, armed robbery, culpable homicide, and rape, among others.

This follows a series of intensified security measures implemented by the Adamawa State Police Command.

The arrests were made as part of a strategic plan to tackle rising criminal activities, developed under the direction of Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun.

According to a statement from the Police Public Relations Officer in Adamawa, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, “the operations also led to the recovery of significant items. These include three stolen vehicles, which have been returned to their rightful owners, and multiple firearms, including eleven AK-47 rifles and twenty locally made rifles.”

Additionally, 110 rounds of live ammunition were seized, along with two improvised explosive devices (IEDs) planted by Boko Haram in some areas of Hong Local Government.

In a separate effort, six kidnapped victims were rescued in collaboration with other security agencies.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, praised the officers for their bravery and assured the public of continued efforts to ensure the safety and security of residents throughout the state.
