Jack Black’s Weezer ‘Movie Casting’ Teased With Bizarre AI Poster

Many fans have been left curious about whether Jack Black will join the cast of the Weezer movie alongside Keanu Reeves after an AI poster was posted online by the frontman of the rock band, Rivers Cuomo. The movie was announced by Cuomo a few days ago while performing at the 2025 Coachella Music Festival. However, no official comment has been made on the casting by the Kung Fu Panda actor.

Rivers Cuomo teases Jack Black’s casting in Weezer movie with Keanu Reeves

According to a post on Reddit, vocalist and guitarist Rivers Cuomo recently took over the Discord server of the band to announce Jack Black’s entry into the Weezer movie.

Cuomo posted an AI-generated image with Black on it and wrote, “Nope, it’s real.” However, many fans on Reddit didn’t seem to take Cuomo seriously and appeared skeptical about the announcement. The guitarist has a reputation for spreading false information, as claimed by a user, “Rivers is just f—— around, take anyone thing he says with a huge grain of salt.”

The Weezer movie, which has been shrouded in mystery since its announcement, has reportedly got Keanu Reeves on board as well. The casting was shared by renowned Hollywood scooper, Jeff Sneider, on his blog, The InSneider. In the report, Sneider stated that Reeves is joining the Weezer movie as a villain, and it will have a cast featuring a number of stars.

Additionally, directors Ariel Schulman and Henry Joost are helming the movie, which is being described as a mockumentary.

While performing at Coachella 2025 earlier this month, Cuomo took a brief moment to announce the movie and said, “We’ve been busy making the Weezer movie back in LA the last couple weeks. But when Coachella called us up, said, ‘Hey Weezer, could you guys make it out for a surprise appearance?’ we’re like, ‘Heck yeah!’ It feels so good to be here with you guys and let out these emotions.”
