EPL: Demba Ba reveals major issue with Chelsea this season
Former Chelsea striker, Demba Ba has called on the club hierarchy to sign a veteran player who can prove to be a positive influence in the dressing room.
Despite spending around £1.2 billion since 2022, the Blues have struggled for form in the recent times.
The Blues have won three games in their past six Premier League games, scoring just six goals in the process.
Speaking to the Sun, Ba responded to the question of whether the Blues need to sign a new striker.
He said, “I wouldn’t say Chelsea are lacking strikers. If you look at a player like [Christopher] Nkunku, he’s trying to make a name for himself in the Premier League.
“However, the issue is experience and personality. They need someone who has the personality to handle the pressure, someone who can endure pain but also command the respect of the younger players in the team.”
Chelsea’s top striker, Nicolas Jackson, has scored nine goals in 29 total appearances this term.
Christopher Nkunku, on his part, has netted 14 times in 42 overall outings so far this campaign.
Chelsea are fighting to qualify for the Champions League next season, being sixth in the Premier League standings.
They are on 57 points from 33 league outings, three points behind third-placed Nottingham Forest.
