Ted Lasso Season 4 Update From Brett Goldstein Hints at Release Date Window
With Apple TV+ officially greenlighting Season 4 of their hit sports comedy-drama Ted Lasso, writer and actor Brett Goldstein has come out to share his thoughts on the renewal. Debuting in August 2020, the Jason Sudeikis-led show followed the journey of the titular character, who receives the opportunity to coach a Premier League soccer team. Severely lacking any tactical knowledge of the sport, he attempts to navigate his way through his new job via his overbearing optimism. With a fourth season now on its way, Goldstein, who plays Kent in Ted Lasso, has provided a promising update, all the while drawing parallels to an unusual anecdote from his early years.
Brett Goldstein gives Ted Lasso Season 4 update, compares it to a dead cat
In a recent discussion, the Shrinking star noted that Ted Lasso Season 4 is “in the writers’ room at the moment,” before comparing it to the revival of a dead cat.
During his recent appearance on the Wild Card podcast, Brett Goldstein recalled how one of his university friends tragically lost his cat in an accident. The friend went on to bury the beloved pet in his garden and prayed intensively for it to come back. “And then the cat did come back, and it turned out the cat they buried wasn’t their cat,” the actor/writer explained.
Goldstein then likened the incident to Apple renewing Ted Lasso for Season 4, which was originally intended to conclude after three seasons. He remarked, “I’m saying I feel like that kid. Like ‘We buried it. We all cried, we had a funeral. Are you saying we can bring anything back?’ It’s too much power.”
While the actor, who plays Roy Kent, has confirmed that writers are currently conceptualizing the fourth installment, an earlier report claimed that production on Ted Lasso Season 4 will begin in July, later this year. As such, the series could make a much-awaited return in the third or fourth quarter of 2026.
Ted Lasso Season 4 will see Jason Sudeikis’ character take on the coaching challenge of a women’s soccer team, with Brett Goldstein, Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, and Jeremy Swift set to reprise their roles. Despite all the positive updates, Apple TV+ has yet to share an official release window for the fourth edition.
