Bet Trailer Previews Netflix’s Live-Action Show Based on Kakegurui Manga

Netflix has released the official Bet trailer for its upcoming live-action series, based on writer Homura Kawamoto and illustrator Toru Naomura’s popular coming-of-age thriller manga titled Kakegurui. The ten-episode adaptation is scheduled to make its debut on May 15, 2025.

“The series follows the students at a boarding school for the global elite, where underground gambling determines the school’s hierarchy,” reads the official synopsis. “When Yumeko, a mysterious transfer student arrives, her gambling prowess puts her in the crosshairs of the powerful Student Council, while her secret quest for revenge threatens to upend the school’s status quo entirely.”

Who is in the Bet trailer?

The video introduces the show’s main cast, which is led by Miku Martineau (Kate, Star Trek: Section 31) as compulsive gambler Yumeko. The character was previously voiced by Saori Hayami in the original anime series. Martineau will be joined by Ayo Solanke (Clown in a Cornfield), Eve Edwards (The Bad Orphan, The Good Doctor), Clara Alexandrova (Alert: Missing Persons Unit, Danger In The Dorm), Hunter Cardinal (Scout), Anwen O’Driscoll (You Can Live Forever, The Bearded Girl), Aviva Mongillo (Workin’ Moms, Don’t Talk to Irene), and Ryan Sutherland (Nick Shorts).

Bet hails from Warrior Nun creator Simon Barry, who is serving as the creator, director, and executive producer. Additional executive producers include Jeff F. King, David Fortier, Ivan Schneeberg, Jon Rutherford, and Nick Nantell. Prior to the live-action Netflix series, Kakegurui was first adapted into an anime series in 2017, which only lasted for two seasons. In 2019, GAGA Pictures adapted the manga into a live-action movie, with Godzilla Minus One star Minami Hamabe playing the leading role.
