Toy Story 5 Update: Tim Allen Teases New Plot Details for Pixar Movie

Golden Globe winner Tim Allen has revealed another Toy Story 5 update for Pixar‘s highly-anticipated next installment to the award-winning animated franchise. Allen has been playing the leading role of cowboy sheriff Woody since 1995’s Toy Story movie, where he was introduced as one of Andy’s most favorite toys.

Toy Story 5 is being directed by Andrew Stanton (Finding Nemo, Wall-E) from a screenplay he also wrote. The next installment will once again feature the voices of franchise leads Tom Hanks as Woody and Tim Allen as Buzz Lightyear. Their characters were last seen together in 2019’s Toy Story 4, where Woody decided to stay with Bo Peep instead of returning home to Bonnie.

What was Tim Allen’s Toy Story 5 update?

During a recent interview, Allen teased Woody and Buzz’s story arcs in Toy Story 5, confirming that the long-time friends will indeed reunite in the newest sequel. In addition, he also continued to hint at Jessie’s major role in the upcoming movie, which he has previously teased.

“I can tell you that it’s a lot about Jessie. Tom [Hanks] and I do — Woody and I — do realign. And there’s an unbelievable opening scene with Buzz Lightyears. I can give you that, but I can’t give you much more,” Allen shared.

At the moment, the studio hasn’t shared the official synopsis and cast lineup yet, but Allen previously promised fans to expect a “really good” story for the sequel.

“It’s a very, very clever story. Do you wanna do five of these? I don’t really believe it’s about the money,” he said. “I’m sure they want it to be a success, but that’s not why they did it. Had they not come up with a brilliant script, they wouldn’t have done it and they wouldn’t have called me and Tom [Hanks]. It’s really clever. It was really a struggle to get, and then maybe two hours in, I was doing Buzz. I’m so blessed to be Buzz Lightyear, to be honest. It’s gonna be fun. I think we’re a year out. I’ve gotten up to the third act. We’ll do the third act. And then, we’ll go back and clean it. And then, I’ll do it about five more times. It’s a really good story, guys. It’s really good.”

Toy Story 5 is currently slated to arrive in theaters on June 19, 2026.
