Sinners Box Office Might Outperform WB Predictions After Strong Start

Michael B. Jordan and director Ryan Coogler‘s Sinners is performing exceptionally well at the box office, and it may even surpass Warner Brothers’ early predictions.

The vampire thriller, which debuted in theaters on April 18, received positive first reactions — with some calling it a “horny, gory” movie. Apart from an impressive critical reception, the R-rated feature is also making a huge sum at the box office so far.

What was the box office total for Sinners so far?

The newly released horror movie has earned $4.7 million in Thursday previews, according to Variety. The outlet also shared that the film is expected to earn between $45 million to $50 million in its opening weekend, while Warner Bros. expects the feature to accumulate at least $35 million to $40 million. However, given the film’s current earnings, it may even exceed recent expectations.

In Sinners, written and directed by Coogler, sees Jordan in a dual role as twin brothers Smoke and Stack Moore, who return to their Mississippi hometown one day to start a new life. As they plan to leave their past life behind, they will soon discover a monstrous presence waiting for their return.

“Trying to leave their troubled lives behind, twin brothers (Jordan) return to their hometown to start again, only to discover that an even greater evil is waiting to welcome them back,” the synopsis for the movie reads.

Sinners also stars Hailee Steinfeld as Mary, Jack O’Connell as Remmick, Miles Caton as Sammie Moore, Buddy Guy as Old Sammie, Jayme Lawson as Pearline, Wunmi Mosaku as Annie, Delroy Lindo as Delta Slim, Omar Benson Miller as Cornbread, Li Jun Li as Grace Chow, and more.

Sinners marks the latest collaboration between Coogler and Jordan, both of whom previously worked together in the two Black Panther features as well as in Fruitvale Station and the Creed film series.
