Daredevil Fans Demand Defenders’ Return in Born Again Season 2

Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 may reunite the Defenders, according to mounting speculation fueled by the show’s finale and recent fan reactions online. While Marvel Studios has not confirmed any returning characters, Matt Murdock’s closing line and setup for a larger team have sparked renewed interest in the Netflix-era heroes making their official MCU debut.

Daredevil fans want Luke Cage, Jessica Jones and Iron Fist to reunite as the Defenders

Following the Season 1 finale of Daredevil: Born Again, fans have taken to X demanding the return of the Defenders in Season 2. Multiple posts highlighted speculation and anticipation after Matt Murdock’s line, “We need an army,” delivered in Episode 9. The quote sparked widespread theories that Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Danny Rand may return alongside Daredevil in the upcoming season.

One fan wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “DEFENDERS AND FRIENDS INCOMING” with a screengrab from the finale. Another asked, “WHERE ARE THE DEFENDERS???” while others criticized the absence of returning characters, saying, “You shoulda brought back at least ONE for this.” As of April 16, 2025, fan posts referencing the Defenders and their potential return have collectively reached over one million views.

Season 2 was confirmed by showrunner Dario Scardapane, who revealed via Instagram that it will premiere in March 2026. The upcoming season will consist of eight episodes and is already in production. No official casting announcements have been made regarding the return of Defenders characters.

Daredevil: Born Again builds on the Netflix-era Marvel shows that introduced street-level heroes Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist. The team later united in The Defenders (2017).

Marvel previously confirmed those characters would not appear in Born Again Season 1 to maintain focus on Matt’s solo arc. In the finale, Matt rallies allies in Josie’s Bar and calls for reinforcements.

Fisk becomes mayor and enforces martial law through the Anti-Vigilante Task Force. These events set the stage for a broader resistance. In the MCU timeline, Season 2 will end shortly before Avengers: Doomsday premieres in May 2026. This timing fuels speculation about crossover potential.
