New Always Sunny & Abbott Elementary Crossover Announced, IASIP Season 17 Release Date Set

FX announced the It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia Season 17 release date, and also confirmed the new season will kick off with the highly anticipated Abbott Elementary crossover episode.

When is the It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia Season 17 release date?

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia Season 17 will premiere on July 9, 2025, on FXX. New episodes of the series will also arrive on Hulu the next day, when they’ll be available to stream. The gang is returning in a big way, too, as FX announced that the first episode will be the raunchy comedy’s take on the Abbott Elementary crossover.

The staff of Abbott Elementary previously collaborated with the comedy earlier this year, with an episode titled “Volunteers.” The two-part crossover will continue with Sunny’s 17th season premiere. In a new clip teasing the episode, the gang can be seen trying to start a boy band, stealing brownies, and more.

Stars Rob McElhenney, Charlie Day, Glenn Howerton, Kaitlin Olson and Danny DeVito will all return for the series. Alongside the Abbott Elementary crossover, Sunny’s 17th season will also celebrate the 20th anniversary of the series in an episode titled “The Gang Embraces the Corporate Era,” which will follow “how greed and the New American Dream have consumed Paddy’s Pub.”

The series, which has become the longest-running live-action sitcom in television history, was created by Rob McElhenney, and is co-developed by Glenn Howerton. The show is executive produced by McElhenney, Charlie Day, Howerton, Michael Rotenberg, Nick Frenkel, Dave Chernin, John Chernin, Rob Rosell, David Hornsby, Nina Pedrad and Victor Hsu. The series is produced by FX Productions.
