Avengers: Doomsday Fans Think Cyclops & Doctor Doom Set Photos Are Real

As excitement around Avengers: Doomsday continues to build, a series of what appear to be set photos from the upcoming film have started to make rounds on the internet. The images not only feature James Marsden’s Cyclops interacting with Sir Ian McKellen’s Magneto and Benedict Wong’s Sorcerer Supreme but also give a complete look at Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom. However, many have come out to question the legitimacy of the pictures, considering Marvel Studios’ choice to maintain silence on the plot details of Avengers 5.

Is Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom set photo from Avengers: Doomsday real?

The Avengers: Doomsday set photos, released on X (formerly Twitter), showcase James Marsden’s Cyclops having a conversation with Magneto, with the latter sporting his iconic costume. Another one sees Marsden’s character discussing something with Wong, who failed to make it in Marvel’s recent Avengers 5 cast reveal.

Since their publishing on the internet, renowned internet scooper @MyTimeToShineH has come out to debunk the viral Avengers: Doomsday set photos, definitively writing, “These are fake.” The images do not seem to have an identifiable and credible source. Moreover, each of the aforementioned pictures popped up on the internet as individual images, further suggesting that they are, indeed, fake.

Another Avengers: Doomsday set photo that has gone viral of late highlights Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom in full costume. As opposed to a recent rumor that theorized that Downey’s Victor Von Doom might sport curly hair, the image, as seen on X, sees the Oppenheimer actor with long white locks.

Despite the fake set photos sparking an intense discussion among fans, Marvel has not corroborated any such rumor regarding Avengers: Doomsday. Notably, this could be a ploy by the studios to throw the fans off. In a previous interview with GamesRadar+ about 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine, executive producer Wendy Jacobson admitted to Marvel making use of fake spoilers, stating, “There may or may not have been some subterfuge and misdirections on the internet or in-person in order to protect the secrecy.”

While fans continue to debate the plot and character details regarding Avengers: Doomsday, the movie will not be hitting theaters before May 1, 2026.
