Jigawa council lawmaker killed by reckless driver
A former Hadejia Local Government councilor, 40-year-old Aliyu Muhammad, popularly known as Ta’iya Rosi, tragically lost his life in a motor accident in Jigawa State.
The incident occurred on Sunday along the Dolen Kwana axis while residents gathered in anticipation of Governor Umar Namadi’s arrival for the commissioning of a newly constructed road.
An eyewitness and a family member of the deceased told DAILY POST that the deceased was attempting to cross the road when he was struck by a reckless driver who was reportedly playing with the vehicle at the time.
The road, which stretches from Dolen Kwana in Birniwa Local Government Area to Garun-Gabas, is one of the projects executed by the current administration.
The commissioning event was part of the Citizens Engagement Programme aimed at fostering government-community interaction.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
