Verydarkman Meets NAPTIP DG to Secure Safe Return of Trafficked Nigerian Children

Human rights activist Verydarkman and lawyer Barrister Adeyanju Deji recently held a significant meeting with Hajiya Binta Adamu Bello, the Director-General of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), to discuss the safe return of Nigerian children trafficked to Côte d’Ivoire.

In a post shared on Instagram, Verydarkman expressed his gratitude for the meeting, which he said was a step forward in securing the children’s safe return. He described Hajiya Bello as not just a compassionate NAPTIP leader, but also as a mother deeply moved by the plight of the underage children who were trafficked and exploited for sexual purposes.

Verydarkman’s post read:

“In the quest of bringing back the trafficked children from Ivory Coast, myself and Barr @adeyanjudeji had an important meeting with the DG of NAPTIP, Hajiya Binta Adamu Bello, OON, who was so compassionate about the whole situation surrounding how those underage children were sold for sexual pleasures amongst other dehumanizing purposes. She responded not just as the DG of NAPTIP but as a mother who has birthed children and knows what it really means to be a mother. She was alongside the newly appointed chairman of the board of NAPTIP, Comrade Mustapha Salihu, and other members. It was a fruitful meeting, and the processes to get the children back to their families and loved ones are being put in place—not just for these victims alone but for all trafficked persons who have suffered from this evil movement.”

This meeting follows Verydarkman’s public criticism of Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairperson of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), who he accused of failing to take swift action on the issue. He had given her a one-week ultimatum to address the matter.
