EPL Manager of the Season: Chris Sutton snubs Slot, Arteta, Guardiola
Former Chelsea player Chris Sutton has overlooked the likes of Liverpool’s Arne Slot, Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta, and Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola as he named Nottingham Forest’s Nuno Espírito Santo his Premier League Manager of the Season.
Sutton made the comments on the latest episode of the It’s All Kicking Off! podcast while debating which manager is most deserving of the crown this season.
He said, “People get really upset about these things, they [Slot, Arteta, Eddie Howe, Guardiola and Unai Emery,] are all deserving winners.
“Most people had them [Nottingham Forest] in a relegation battle. Personally, I thought they would just escape the drop.
“An FA Cup semifinal as well, what a job that is! Nobody saw it coming, so Nuno would be my manager of the season.”
Santo has guided Nottingham Forest to third place on the Premier League table at present.
They have amassed 57 points from 31 games and trail only Arsenal and Liverpool in the standings.
Nottingham Forest are also in the semi-finals of the FA Cup, where they are set to face Manchester City later this month.
