Kebbi varsity student abducted by gunmen rescued by security operatives

Augustine Madubiya, a 400-level student of the Federal University Birnin Kebbi (FUBK), who was kidnapped in the early hours of Tuesday by unidentified gunmen, has been rescued.

This was disclosed by the Director of Security, Cabinet Office, Abdulrahman Zagga, in Birnin Kebbi.

According to Zagga, the breakthrough followed directives from Governor Nasir Idris, who instructed all security chiefs in the state to collaborate and take immediate action to rescue the student.

“I am happy to inform you that the FUBK student abducted yesterday has been successfully rescued through a combined operation by security operatives,” Zagga stated.

“The governor was firm in his directive that security agencies must swing into action and ensure the student was rescued alive and unharmed.”

Zagga further confirmed that the student is in good health but is currently undergoing medical check-up by doctors as a precautionary measure.

He expressed gratitude to the university management, the local community and the student’s parents for their understanding, support, and prayers throughout the ordeal.

He also commended Governor Nasir Idris for utilizing all available government security resources to secure the student’s release, and appreciated the gallant efforts of the security personnel involved in the successful rescue.
