New Thunderbolts* Trailer Reveals Real Villain at CinemaCon 2025

New Thunderbolts* Trailer Reveals Real Villain at CinemaCon 2025
The latest trailer for Thunderbolts*, revealed at the ongoing CinemaCon, seems to have finally confirmed the film’s main villain. Set for a May 2025 release, the movie follows a rag-tag team of former MCU antagonists, who join forces after Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ Valentina draws them into a deadly mission. While the presence of Lewis Pullman’s Sentry has many fans convinced that he is the movie’s big bad, the recently released description of the project’s CinemaCon footage seems to indicate that someone else is pulling the strings from the shadows.
CinemaCon’s Thunderbolts* trailer sees the team square off against Sentry and Val
The aforementioned Thunderbolts* trailer sees the team attempting to infiltrate a building through a truck. However, when they reach their destination, the squad, led by Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes, realizes that it was Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ Val, who had coerced their meet-up to terminate them. This further confirms that she will serve as the film’s real villain.
The clip opens with Bucky Barnes and David Harbour’s Red Guardian driving a truck, with Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova, Hannah John-Kamen’s Ghost, and Wyatt Russell’s John Walker stationed in the back, as per The Hollywood Reporter. As Red Guardian questions Bucky about their ‘secret plan,’ he realizes that the Winter Soldier intends to ram their vehicle into the targeted building to secure an opening.
The trailer then showcases the Thunderbolts* fighting against a barrage of opposing gunmen, only stopping after they hear Valentina’s voice in the loudspeakers. As she instructs them to come upstairs, the scheming agent relays a series of insults against the team.
Val then reveals, “You are all so adorable. I send you down there to kill each other, but instead, you make nice and form a team,” confirming her vengeful agenda against the team. An infuriated Bucky attempts to launch a quick counter-attack but is interrupted by an opposing threat, seemingly Lewis Pullman’s Sentry, sent by Val.
While Marvel has yet to issue an official word regarding the role of Julia Louis-Dreyfus in Thunderbolts*, the film’s CinemaCon trailer seemingly confirms her as the movie’s primary villain. With the project on track to hit theatres on May 2, 2025, interested fans will be able to validate or deny this theory soon enough.
