The Naked Gun Trailer Includes O.J. Simpson Joke, Liam Neeson as Leslie Nielsen’s Son

The first trailer for the new The Naked Gun movie has been released.

Paramount Pictures is releasing a new The Naked Gun movie in United States theaters this coming August. The movie, also known as The Naked Gun 4+1⁄4: Law of Toughness, stars Liam Neeson as the son of Leslie Nielsen’s Frank Drebin.

What happens in The Naked Gun trailer?

The Naked Gun trailer opens with a little girl bypassing the police as she walks into an ongoing bank robbery. The girl then takes off a mask and reveals herself to be Neeson’s Frank Drebin Jr., who then proceeds to violently kill those committing the robbery.

The end of the trailer then sees Neeson talking to a picture of his deceased father. A number of other cops are also shown to be kneeling in front of and talking to pictures of their deceased fathers, while the man who is in front of a picture of O.J. Simpson’s Nordberg turns to the camera and shakes his head.

Simpson played Fred Nordberg in all three of the previous Naked Gun movies — 1988’s The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad!, 1991’s The Naked Gun 2½: The Smell of Fear, and 1994’s Naked Gun 33⅓: The Final Insult — before he then went on trial for the murder of Nicole Brown.

The synopsis for the new The Naked Gun movie reads, “Only one man has the particular set of skills… to lead Police Squad and save the world! Lt. Frank Drebin Jr. (Liam Neeson) follows in his father’s footsteps in The Naked Gun, directed by Akiva Schaffer (Saturday Night Live, Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping) and from producer Seth MacFarlane (Ted, Family Guy). Joining the case are cast Pamela Anderson, Paul Walter Hauser, CCH Pounder, Kevin Durand, Cody Rhodes, Liza Koshy, Eddie Yu, with Danny Huston.”

The Naked Gun will be released in United States theaters on August 1, 2025, from Paramount Pictures.
