Eden Release Date Set for Sydney Sweeney & Ana de Armas Survival Movie

Vertical has announced the Eden release date for its upcoming survival thriller, starring Emmy nominee Sydney Sweeney and Oscar nominee Ana de Armas. This comes after Vertical successfully acquired the North American distribution rights to the Ron Howard-directed movie.

“Thanks to our partners at AGC Studios, Vertical, and our amazing team at Imagine Entertainment, I’m thrilled to be able to share Eden with audiences in the U.S.,” Howard said in a statement. “This story has been a passion project for me for years, rooted in the incredible true events of three wildly different groups of people who chose to leave modern society behind and recreate themselves on an uninhabited island in the Galapagos. The complexity of the characters and the collision of personalities that resulted are what drew me in, and I hope audiences connect with the profound themes of survival and human nature. It’s a story that feels so relevant today, and I’m excited for audiences to experience it on the big screen!”

When is the Eden release date?

Following its world premiere at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival, Eden has now been scheduled to arrive in theaters this summer on August 22, 2025. It is based on an unsolved mystery that happened on a remote island in the Galapagos. The cast also includes Jude Law (The Order), Vanessa Kirby (The Fantastic Four: First Steps), Daniel Brühl (All Quiet on the Western Front), Richard Roxburgh (Van Helsing), Toby Wallace (Babyteeth), and more.

“Set between the two World Wars, the film unravels the shocking true story of a group of disillusioned Europeans who abandon civilization, convinced that society is corrupting humanity’s true nature,” reads the official synopsis. “Seeking paradise, they settle on a remote, uninhabited island in the Galapagos—only to discover that the greatest threat isn’t the brutal climate or deadly wildlife, but each other. As tensions spiral and desperation takes hold, a twisted power struggle unfolds, leading to betrayal, violence, and the chilling, still-unsolved deaths of half the colony.”

Eden is directed and produced by Howard from a screenplay written by Noah Pink, based on a story by Pink and Howard. Prior to its production, the acclaimed filmmaker had developed the project for over a decade now. The film is produced by Brian Grazer and Karen Lunder for Imagine Entertainment, Stuart Ford for AGC Studios, William M. Connor, and Patrick Newall. Executive producers are Miguel Palos, Zach Garrett, Craig McMahon, Noah Pink, Mathias Herndl, Namit Malhotra, David Taghioff, Masha Magonova, and Matt Murphie. In addition, this also marks the tenth collaboration between composer Hans Zimmer and Howard.
