Vin Diesel Teases New Fast & Furious Short Film Sequel to Los Bandoleros

After over 15 years since Los Bandoleros made its direct-to-video release, it seems like fans will soon be treated to a brand new Fast & Furious short film. The 2009 short was written and directed by franchise star Vin Diesel, who also led the cast as Dominic Toretto.

Los Bandoleros features Toretto as a runaway fugitive who stages a fuel tanker heist in the Dominican Republic with his crew. His main goal is to give away the fuel to the local community. The short was released by Universal Pictures as part of the Blu-ray and special edition home video releases of the first Fast & Furious movie. It also featured franchise stars Michelle Rodriguez as Letty Ortiz and Sung Kang as Han.

What did Vin Diesel say about the new Fast & Furious short film?

On Instagram, Diesel posted a photo of him with Los Bandoleros co-stars Tego Calderón and Don Omar, teasing the development of the sequel to 2009’s Fast & Furious short film. Further details about the project’s plot and characters are still currently under wraps.

Fast X Part 2 will be directed by Louis Leterrier, who also previously helmed 2023’s Fast X. While Fast X was initially going to kick off a new trilogy of Fast and Furious films, Diesel confirmed in February 2024 that Fast X Part 2 will be a “grand finale.” There have been reports that the next installment may be a “throwback” to the original Fast and Furious movie, which could feature a different villain than Jason Momoa’s Dante. Production is expected to take place in Los Angeles. At the moment, it currently has no official release date yet.
