Mickle is best known for creating Sweet Tooth, the fantasy drama that ran for three seasons on Netflix. Mickle will produce with Linda Moran through their company, Nightshade.
Plot details for Gundam remain under wraps.
Created by Yoshiyuki Tomino, Gundam is a Japanese military sci-fi franchise that involves mecha, or giant fighting robots. The franchise began in 1979 with the anime series Mobile Suit Gundam. The Gundam franchise is extremely popular, with dozens of movies, animated series, novels, video games, and manga.
A Gundam live-action movie was announced in the spring of 2021. Jordan Vogt-Roberts, who helmed Kong: Skull Island, signed on to direct for Netflix. By October 2024, Vogt-Roberts and Netflix were no longer involved, with Mickle signing on to write and direct.
Production is slated to begin later this year after Sweeney finishes her filming commitments on Euphoria Season 3.
