Military, police stop bandits in Sokoto, stray bullet kills resident

A coordinated response by military and police forces thwarted an attempted attack by armed bandits on Tozai village in Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State on Monday.

According to a post by security analyst Zagazola Makama on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, about 90 armed bandits on motorcycles stormed the village in a bid to launch an attack but were met with resistance from security forces. A fierce gun battle ensued, forcing the assailants to retreat.

However, during the exchange of fire, a stray bullet fired by the bandits struck a resident, 35-year-old Sule Ummaru, as he tried to flee the scene.

“Unfortunately, in the course of repelling the attack, a resident, Sule Ummaru, was hit by a stray bullet from the bandits. He was rushed to General Hospital Isa but later succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment,” makama confirmed.

Security forces have since intensified patrols in the area to prevent further attacks and ensure the safety of residents.
