Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse gets pushed to 2027
Sony Pictures has confirmed it will release Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse on June 4, 2027. The studio originally planned the release for March 29, 2024, but removed it from the calendar in July 2023 due to delays from the writers and actors strikes.
During its CinemaCon 2025 panel, Sony revealed the new release date as filmmakers Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson called the movie a “massive finale to the trilogy meant for the biggest screens” (via Entertainment Weekly).
Phil Lord stated the story “picks up the moment [the second movie] ended” and will again “break the boundaries with animation.” Shameik Moore will reprise his role as Miles Morales, with Hailee Steinfeld returning as Gwen Stacy (via ComicBookMovie.com).
Sony screened a teaser that featured scenes from the earlier films and closed with Miles Morales declaring, “Nah, I’m gonna do my own thing.” Lord confirmed the film will introduce entirely new animation, while Thompson emphasized its design for large-format screens.
New photos of Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse revealed at CinemaCon
CinemaCon revealed new images and footage from Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, showcasing Miles Morales and his alternate counterpart Miles G. Morales, also known as the Prowler. Jharrel Jerome voices the Earth-42 version of Miles, who dons full Prowler gear and confronts Shameik Moore’s Miles.
The film follows the cliffhanger ending of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, where Miles finds himself on Earth-42, a universe without a Spider-Man, where his father is dead and his alternate self is a vigilante. In the teaser footage, Miles declares, “You can’t ask me… not to save my father.”
The movie continues immediately from the last installment, with the directors, in an interview with Deadline in December 2024, emphasizing it is “a very satisfying ending” crafted with new animation styles.
