Disney Branded Television has officially announced the Wizards Beyond Waverly Place Season 2 renewal for its fantasy sitcom, which serves a spin-off to the fan-favorite show Wizards of Waverly Place. Original stars David Henrie and Selena Gomez are both executive producing, with Henrie also a part of the new show’s main cast.
According to Disney, the first episode of Wizards Beyond Waverly Place garnered 3.2 million viewers during its first 12 days, making it Disney Channel’s most-watched series premiere ever on Disney+. After over a month since Season 1 ended its 21-episode run, the spin-off has scored a Tomatometer rating of 89% on Rotten Tomatoes.

“I’m overwhelmed by all the love for the series and ready to keep serving this new generation of Wizards fans with more Russo magic, while continuing to deliver a big warm hug to the original fan! Wizards Beyond Waverly Place is written and executive produced by Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas. Besides Henrie, the series also stars Janice LeAnn Brown as Billie, Alkaio Thiele as Roman Russo, Max Matenko as Milo Russo, Taylor Cora as Winter, and Mimi Gianopulos as Giada Russo. During the first episode and last episode of Season 1, Gomez also made guest-star appearances, where she reprise her fan-favorite role as Alex Russo. Production on Season 2 is expected to begin next month in Los Angeles.
